One problem you are going to have is that root can not get his mail
using POP3.  This is a security feature.  You should have root's mail
go to a normal user set up for this.  You can change this in
/etc/aliases.  There is a commented out entry at the end of this file:

# Person who should get root's mail
#root:          marc

If you remove the # before root, change marc to a valid user, and run
newaliases, you should be all set.
