Hi, I hope someone can help.

I look after a lab of about 100 machines and users who use csh or ksh
get this message sometimes when they remote login to another machine:
> warning: no access to tty (inappropriate ioctl for device)
> thus no job control in this shell

I have looked at /dev/tty and it looks fine:
# ls -l /dev/tty
crw-rw-rw- 1 root root 5, 0 Mar 24 2001 /dev/tty

The strange thing is sometimes when I logout and login again it goes
away, and yet sometimes it doesn't. Note also that I have not seen this
yet for users who use bash. It happens for normal users as well as root.

I am running RedHat7.1, and have just upgraded from kernel 2.4.3-12 to
2.4.9-12. I also put on a lot of updates at the same time. The error
appeared just after the upgrade.

Thanks in advance,

Ross
