Hello,

Here in the office, I have been authorized to buy a PC to be used with
Linux as my desktop: it's the first time they consider a Linux desktop
for production work here, so I'd really like everything to go as smooth
as possible.

Due to company policies and budget limits, the only choice is a Dell
Optiplex GX240 with P4 processor and 1 GB of non ECC RAM, RH 7.1 or
7.2, and, according to the Dell site:

..... 32 MB 4x AGP ATI Rage Ultra 128 graphica adapter.
        ...... Integrated 3com etherlink 10/100 PCI LAN

The specific issues on which I'd like your feedback are:

P4 processor: yeah, fast, but is it stable? Or should I
                        recommend something more tested?

non ECC RAM: any issue about this? (stability/whatever)

the graphic and network adapters: are they 100% supported
without kernel recompilation or any other esotheric setup? I
*did* check the supported HW pages on the RH site, but was
unable to find exactly the names above, so I'm not sure. Keep
in mind that I have little control on this box, so I should
really recommend HW that RH 7.1/7.2 is known to recognize
        instantly and use troublessly.

        TIA,
                Marco
