Hello all,

I'm having installation problems. The system always freezes during the
Package installation process. I have no idea what is going on. I am able to
install my old Red Hat 5.2 with no problems.

I got the CD along with the Red Hat Linux 7.1 Bible so it should be ok. Does
anyone have a clue about what is going on based on this info?

Here is some info on my system:

PC 800 MHZ PIII with 20 Gig IDE disk 256mb RAM. This is one of those custom
made systems where the Soundcard, Video card and 3D accelerator are attached
to the mainboard.

This mainboard uses the GFX PRO chipset which integrates a 3D 128-bit AGP
Graphics Accelerator and has an embedded 10BaseT/100BaseTX Network
Interface. The mainboard has a built-in PCI 3D Sound System. In addition the
board has a full set of ATX I/O Ports including PS/2 keyboard and mouse
ports, two USB ports, a parallel port, a serial port and a VGA port.
It supports front-side bus speeds of 66MHz, 100MHz or 133MHz.

On board IDE channels:
Primary and Secondary PCI IDE channels
Support for PIO modes
Support for Multiword DMA modes
Support for Bus Mastering and Ultra DMA 33/66 modes

Here is the partition info:
Windows 98 Ň 9 Gig
/ = 1Gig
/usr = Ň 6Gig
/var = 500 Meg
/home = 1 Gig
/Swap = 580 Meg

I hope you can help.
All the best,
Bjarki Bjorgulfsson
