Get a second machine with Linux and network it with the first machine,
install Nessus (www.nessus.org, RPMs can be found at www.freshrpms.org
thanks to Matthias Saou). Use Nessus to scan your system, then patch any
problems and scan again. Repeat the scans (with updated plugins, you must
run 'nessus-update-plugins' as root while connected to Internet)
periodically.
It's not perfect, but it's better than nothing ;-)

Get someone with a scanning program to scan your ports and see what is
open.
Also try grc.com and you can run tests from that site via Shields UP and it
will scan your system and tell you what is open/closed/etc..
