Which file is responsable for loading modules during the boot-sequence? I compiled a new kernel 2.4.12 and said the it should use the genereic scsi-support to get my ide-writer running.
With kernel 2.4.2-2 and 2.4.3-12 everything works fine. I'am shure that all necessary modules are marked with make xconfig. but the aren't load. When I type /sbin/lsmod under kernel 2.4.12 the list is much smaller then with kernel 2.4.3-12 for exeample.
