I've heard both sides of the unix/linux based virus issue. I've never seen a unix/linux based virus however I have heard someone mention they've seen one. It was only one person so I can't totaly rely on the statement. However there is anti-virus software for linux. I've downloaded a program called SWEEP and run scans from time to time. Never had a report of a virus though.

Hello Charles Curley:

Your signature line is interesting and very true. And this has always been
my question that: "why are there no viruses on Linux?" Is it because of its
strong security and file permissions? I can't see the reason why they can't
make one. Is it something technical or ethical, or both?

Thanks
