Hi,
I recently tried to upgrade to kernel-2.4.9-31.i686.rpm (using rpm -ivh ...),
like I have done a couple of times before with previous kernel versions.
Version 2.4.9-21 is the actual one running.
I am using a RH 7.1 system which is quite up to date, even with
XFree86-4.1.0, and which is somewhat tweaked to run kde 2.2.2.
Now booting into kernel 2.4.9-31 hangs after the message
"Unkompressing Linux ... Ok, booting the kernel."
is displayed, and my machine can only be resuscitated by pressing the reset
button.
Any help would be highly appreciated.
