Hey Siram,

I tried what you suggested below, but it did not work. I downloaded RedHat
7.2 and burned it to a CD, and at least it gives the following error
message:

CPU 0: Machine Check Exception: 0000000000000004
Bank 2: b600000000140000 at 3600000000140000

Kernel panic CPU context corrupt.

Sounds pretty bad, huh?

I looked inside the box, and found out be checking out the manual that came
with the motherboard that there is a jumper that has nothing on it but is
supposed to define the CPU speed. Could that be the problem? But I still
find it weird that Windows 98 runs fine on this machine and Linux 5.2 does
too.
