Hi everyone.

I am running Red Hat 7.1 on two machines, a laptop and a desktop. I
have one usb zip drive, which works fine. The problem arrives when I
unplug the device from any computer. If I plug it back again and try to
mount it again the process simply hangs. The only way, that I know of
yet, to stop the process it to reboot the machine. I tried all the kill
code on the process id, but anything hasn't worked. I always do a
"umount /mnt/zip", before unplugging the drive, but it seems not worth.
So I want to know what is the proper way to unplug usb devices? Is
their a command I have to run before unplugging the device, or a process
I should kill to prevent this from hanging?

Thank you all for any information given.
