Hello Juma , Here's some answers for you from my own experience upgrading my own dual-celeron system 7.1 -> 7.2 -> 7.3 over the past...

In upgrading 7.2 -> 7.3 , the 7.3 installed gave 3 options, (1) keep same boot loader, (2) update boot loader and (3) manually select boot loader. I chose (1) to keep my LILO which I used at home. This worked fine. This USED to be an issue - when I first upgr from 7.1 -> 7.2, the 7.2 install had some trouble in this area , but seems they fixed it in 7.3 installer. > > > 2) if I wish u use GRUB as the boot manager instead .. will it affect my > dual boot system...will automatically remove my LILO and use GRUB? > If you choose the manual selection of boot loader, and use GRUB it will write your GRUB configuration to /boot/grub/ menu which you can then edit. Note that selection"0" (not 1) is the first bootable OS image. It simply starts using GRUB as the boot loader, and should ignore your /etc/lilo.conf.... If you are concerned just backup your lilo.conf to lilo.conf-backup. I USE GRUB on my Linux boxes at work (at home I just never bothered changing). Grub is nicer than Lilo actually and just as easy to use. > > 3) or is it safe to do a fresh install of 7.3 (I have my data in linux > saved)? > =========================================================== My experience with 7.2 -> 7.3 is the UPGRADE went tremendously well so I would recommend the upgrade over the INSTALL if you want assurance of keeping all your setups.... This is my OPINION - you are welcome to do as you like. ;-) Peter
