No...you *could* be stopping and restarting services via /etc/init.d, or the /etc/rc.d/init.d (same thing...the first is a symlink to the second) ...however, Red Hat provides the 'service' command so that you can do the same thing without having to either traverse to the init.d directory, or typing in the full path to the script. > Also, your suggestion works given that he's plugging into another dhcp > network.
