Windows uses a proprietary protocol for this called SMB/NetBIOS. There
is a Linux software called samba which can connect to such a Windows
network. It can even be Primary Domain Controller... Install samba and
swat (a configuration tool for samba) and configure it. It is quite
easy. Both samba and swat are on the Red Hat Linux installation CDs.
