Well you picked the question to start the religious wars. If you have a server and experience as to how much space would be reasonable for various functions then multiple partitions are the thing. If your users begin to take up too much room since they are on their own partition and their filling it up will not affect the other activities going on. The administrator of the server can take streps to deal with this users problem in a partition mounted on /home. In the same way run away log files in a /var partition can be kept from stopping server function.
But if you are a single user with a 4GB disk putting everything on one partition and a swap partition makes more sense. If you use too much space in your home directory it can tale space from the log directories. As long as you keep track or where the space is being used I think you will be happier with that arrangement. ------------------------------------------- Aaron Konstam Computer Science Trinity University 715 Stadium Dr. San Antonio, TX 78212-7200 telephone: (210)-999-7484 email:[EMAIL PROTECTED] _______________________________________________ Seawolf-list mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/seawolf-list
