I had the same problem. My issue was that the root filesystem has
totally full. Zero bytes free.
I checked the /tmp area and there was a log file there that had filled
up the partition. When I rebooted, there wasn't enough space to mount
the filesystem and the kernel paniced.
Boot into rescue mode and do a df on your filesystems. If this is the
problem, it's an easy fix. If not, I'm sure there are others out there
with more and better ideas.
