I'm guessing that you don't realize that "sh-2.05#" is shell prompt.

You're not hung...you're at a command prompt.  Type:
"vi /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-ppp0" 

and change the "ONBOOT" line as was suggested below.
