for some reason lilo doesn't like hard drive that are larger than 8 gigs.... and because of that linux must be installed on the first 8 gigs of your hard disk. i had the same problem when i installed red hat on my laptop. i had to install winXP on the first 3 gigs, then linux comes on a 7 gig pertition after that, then i have a 10 gigs that was formated with NTFS format to be used with XP. this way your can make sure that you boot loader 'lilo' will find linux.
hope that helps.. >> I cannot seem to install Red HAt Linux 7.1 on my Dell Dimension 4500. >> 1.8ghz, 256 mb ddr sd ram (pc2100), 64 mb nVidia GeForce 2 MX 440, 40 >> gig NSTF hard drive.
