Hey there;

I recently upgraded my openssh from 4.1p1 to 4.3p2. After this upgrade,
one of my users reports that he can no longer use certain windows tools
that use either SCP or SFTP to transfer files. They will typically
connect, display a directory listing, but at that point they will get
disconnected when trying to change directories/copy files/etc.

The programs in question are his JEdit editor with the SSH module in it,
and WinSCP. He reports that he can use PUTTY to connect via regular SSH
and that doesn't seem to be an issue.

I've been reading around and it looks like the common problem here is a
startup script that outputs to the screen; I did the test for that
(ssh [EMAIL PROTECTED] /usr/bin/true) and didn't see any output. Coupled
with the fact that his stuff was working fine immediately before the
update, tends to make me think this isn't the issue. There is absolutely
nothing "strange" about the setup; I've not tinkered much with the SSHD
config or anything like that.

I have been unable to replicate the problem with the tools available to me
(UNIX based). The machine in question is a Sun E450 running Solaris 8.
I had also upgraded my OpenSSL library to openssl-0.9.8a just prior to
doing the SSH update. I've also been unable to get OpenSSH to generate
any useful logs to help track down this problem.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Talk to you later,

Steve
