Hi,
Despite my best efforts, I cannot figure out how to get a "Permission
denied" message after each failed password entry when configured with
UsePAM. As you can see below, it only says permission denied after
three attempts and not after each one.
# ssh <ipaddr> -l josh
Password:
Password:
Password:
Permission denied (publickey,keyboard-interactive).
That "Permission denied" message is from the ssh client, so changing the
PAM config won't make any difference.
My sshd is OpenSSH_3.8.1p1, OpenSSL 0.9.7e 25 Oct 2004.
On what platform? Newer version of OpenSSH are better at passing back
messages from PAM modules.
