for all of you that suggested ssh/ssl for outlook/email secure passwords, i
can find all of the sites mentioned, and browsed thru them, yet i can't seem
to find a good set of documentation to use for an all windows environments,
2k server for mail, and 2k workstations. any recommendations out here for
how to set it all up, I use Imail for mail server, and outlook 2k as
clients, Imail support APOP however Outlook doesn't, and no matter what i've
tried, that darn password still get's sent in the clear, i just hate that.
anyway, any recommendations for a good set of instructions to set up ssh/ssl
for my environment would be welcomed...

Don

Outlook is best run over PPTP or VPN.

POP3S, port 995, POP3 over TLS/SSL would also work.

More than just a password should be encrypted.

I believe using APOP will encrypt the POP3 password. As for FTP, you
should
install OpenSSH and use SFTP as that encrypts the password.
