ummmm............ If I'm reading correctly, you're describing the difference between a local (machine) user and a domain user ? Users created on the workstation are entirely different from users created in a Domain. If you log on to the machine as the Local Administrator, you should have full administration rights to that machine, however, if you log on as a Domain User, you may not have local administration rights on that machine. Even if the accounts have the same name, they are *not* the same account. Each user account has a unique identifier, called a SID.
If you have access controls set up on the local machine, that describe which users or groups have access to particular resources, you will need to add the Domain User Account(s) that you login with to those access controls. Also, I have had problems when applying NTFS permission to an NT4 domain from a Windows2000 workstation. I *think* it's because NT4 doesn't understand some of the permissions available on W2K. Hope this Helps......... Or am I way off track ? I'm not really sure I understand your question....... :-) Regards, Ben Rossini "David Giacchetta" To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> <emouyon@yaho cc: o.com.ar> Subject: W2K Domain Selection 07/01/2002 10:34 PM Please respond to "David Giacchetta" Hi Folks I īve seven domains in my wan, and also workstations are w2k, the big question is this, WHY?? when i selected the local domain in the workstation, example.. (the domain of the machine), in the login,,,, ALL the Rights works better, but if i selected another domain, ex... a domain NT4 Server, the user donīt get all yours right... If a user have a Administrator Right when are login in a local domain, but when it login over a NT4 domain this user have a simple right......????? Of course, the right over de network works good... the problem is in the machine.... Sincurely Yours Luciano _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
