MSN & Yahoo messengers

Hi folks
my customer wants to log the usage / login/logout timings etc of MSN & Yahoo
messengers.
also the text being sent if possible.
how do i log that. through a passive listening station.
we have a hardware based proxy (NAT device d-link ) no software based proxy.
not possible to implement.
