Mike, I had the same issues when I incorporated the mail
sanitizing in our department here at the University.

Basically I got a strip torn off of me, and handed back to me.
But just as the TOP DOG was finished with me, he received
a panic phone call from the VP of the campus warning him
not to open any mail from her.

I showed him that the sanitizer had quarantined the email, and
avoided 5 email viruses from arriving. I was then dubbed a
hero for which I simply returned to my office.

Most companies have mail handling policies, although our
sanitizer is not snagging email DUE TO CONTENT, but
due to FILE ATTACHMENTS. I proved that nobody is reading
the email, just simply dumping it after a given period of time.

In Canada, the gov't is working on a new bill to prevent
employers from viewing/tampering with employee email,
but I am not sure how far this has gone as of yet.

My angle was to prevent the users from harming the systems
and our data stored on the servers. We don't care about their
personal information contained within their email messages.
