Here is what I did to remove the connection to xp.mcafee.com:

- unchecked the tab
- closed messenger
-opened messenger
- checked with "netstat -a" and I don't have a connection to
xp.mcafee.com anymore

If this procedure still lets you have a connection to xp.mcafee.com then
I would assume what you suggested and uninstall messenger, delete its
files and registery settings, and reinstall.

But I haven't added any tabs, and I just double-checked to make sure I
haven't. Also as I mentioned it is a persistent connection. It opens
when I start Messenger and closes when I exit out of Messenger.

Omar: When you disabled the tab did this McAfee connection go away?
Maybe I have some corrupted registry setting that thinks I have enabled
the McAfee tab.

Thanks
Rajesh
