I suggest you to use Kaspersky www.kaspersky.com. They have great support and virus definitions updated dailly. I have experience with Symantec NAV, but had a bad experience with their antiviral support. Virus definitions update schedule varies. They have Liveupdate, which should be released weekly (which is not sufficient these days), the Intelligent update is simply released as needed (no guaranteed schedule), beta updates are released frequently, but not very well tested. For example, propper detection of the W32.Klez.gen@mm virus was added about week later after my submition of the virus to the Symantec. Kaspersky response on my submition was within few hours. Kaspersky handels compressed files much better, than any other AV product. Simple comparing of the number of detected viruses in Kaspersky and Symantec shows that Symantec has bigger viral database, however these companies may name viruses differently. In some cases they may add new virus variant detection as a new virus or add to an existing virus detection. If any one knows how AV companies count the viruses, will be interesting to know.
I liked NAV system center, central management control for the AV in the company. I'm not sure if the Kaspersky has anything simmilar. The link to the Open Source AV is http://www.openantivirus.org/, however I do not have any experience with it. Check out also Fsecure (http://www.f-secure.com/) their antivurus was using several AV engines for virus detection. Kaspersky AV engine was one of them. Hope it helps you make a decision. To that end, I would love to hear about any options you all may know see out there. I am considering InoculateIT, but I was really hoping to find something Open Source. Is there anything out there? I did scan Google, but did not get a match. Thanks ahead of time. Dean
