I'm sorry, I must be missing something. It appears to me that if someone
took the time to read these, it's obvious, at least to me, that they are
"junk mail" designed to get your business. The Verisign letter clearly
states "Renewal and Transfer instructions". The DRA letter sports an
explanation and disclaimer in it's verbiage, and register.com clearly states
in red "Transfer and renew your domain name...". Am I missing something,
or is it just the skeptic in me?

No this was snail mail, and yes, register.com does it too.

Namesarecheap put up a link with the mailings, if you want to judge
the contents of this crap for yourself:

I'm not sure, but I was under the impression that the mailing in
question was via e-mail. If that's accurate, then the USPS is pretty
much
out of the loop.

And even if it was a snail-mailing, it's no different than the
deluge of paper junk mail I get from Register.Com all the time. (And
no,
none of my two-dozen-odd domains are registered with Register.Com.)

        It's a dog-eat-dog world out there, folks...and every business
that staked its future on the 'net is wearing Milk Bone underwear.
Small
wonder the advertising tactics are becoming significantly more
aggressive.
