It can detect all the necessary fixes, but some fixes must be installed separately. Service Packs and IE upgrades are among the patches that need their own installs

Is that to say that you can't just run Windows Update on a fresh install and get the needed Service Pack as well as the patches? I thought Update was capable of detecting all necessary fixes...
