I am a newbie in security-basics.
Usually we run some port scanners to find out what ports are open on any
server/pc. eg : a Windows 2000 box running a netbios services or a linux box
running sendmail.
Can someone give me some hint/start in moving forward and trying to gain
Administrative/root controlo these boxes ?
How can we do a penetration test ?
a) How can I find out what are the vulbnerabilities in that box.
b) How can I take advantage of that ?
Where can I find this infromation ?
Please help me in underatnd and moving ahead from this point.
