I read somewhere that you cannot use the SUS on a domain controller. I just recently installed SUS on my win2k server running AD, DNS, and DC. So far, i can't tell if this is working. I tried installing the client software, but it keeps on telling me that i need to be running windows 2000 or windows
Windows XP SP1 does not need the updated client; only Win2K or XP RTM. (I think Win2K SP4 has the new client as well.)
Windows SUS SP1 can run from a domain controller. If you got far enough to get its admin webpage, it's installed fine.
You'll need to change an item in your group policy so that the update clients go to your server instead of MS. It's off topic, but I recommend reading the SUS Deployment Guide (from the MS web site) to get it working with your clients.
Take care,
Dave
