Putting it simply, WPA's TKIP is/was an interim measure to mitigate the poor
key management of RC4 in WEP. It is not expected to be necessary with
WPA2's AES-CCMP due to the higher confidence in that cryptosystem.

Subject: WPA & WPA v2.

Hello,

Lately I'm reading more about upcoming standards for wireless networks
WPA & WPA II. I understand the difference, but what seems to be
interesting is that in some articles the author says that in WPA II.,
when used AES the TKIP will be NOT in use, i.e. the base key will be the
same, with an IV of 2xWEP's (ie. 48 bits). Is that true or do you have
indication that even with such a strong block cipher such as AES the
Temporary Key Integrity Protocol will be in use?

Thanks -- Tomas
