Hi all, Enjoying the posts! A quick hint. To access the site that Koji Nobumoto listed in his email of Tuesday July 15, remove the comma at the end of the URL. Either copy and paste the link into a browser search bar and manually remove the trailing comma, or click on this link http://www.uk.research.att.com/vnc/sshvnc.html
Koji, your attention to good grammar (putting in a comma) tricked the URL creation routine in your email editor! It is probably coded to take everything to the left and right of the @ sign up until the preceding and trailing space character and make the entire text block the URL. For that reason I usually put URLs on a new line with no other text. But I'm old-fashioned :-) Cheers David Kellaway ----- Original Message ----- From: "Koji Nobumoto" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Jose Guevarra" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Cc: "Security-Basics" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Tuesday, July 15, 2003 5:38 PM Subject: Re: SSH port forwarding not working? > > In the article http://www.uk.research.att.com/vnc/sshvnc.html, > it says "the VNC protocol normally uses port 59xx", so that what > you should do might be, > > $> ssh -2C -L 5901:vncserver:5901 localhost > > and then > > $> vncviewer localhost:1 > > isn't it? > > > 2003/07/14 21:09:22 -0700 Jose Guevarra <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote > "SSH port forwarding not working?" > >Hi, > > > > I was using SSH to encrypt a VNC session. The Gartner Group just put Neoteris in the top of its Magic Quadrant, while InStat has confirmed Neoteris as the leader in marketshare. Find out why, and see how you can get plug-n-play secure remote access in about an hour, with no client, server changes, or ongoing maintenance.
