The benefits are small, I think. It is easy to get similar improvement in application layer, but if we want add this to JRE for general use, we may need to evaluation too much uncertainties or limitations.
Okay, let's bury this for now. We can revisit it again once hardware-accelerated hashing makes the instantiation overhead more visible. :-)
