IMO we should reconsider waiting for SMC.  The fact is that there are
ways[*] to administer arbitrary user_attr keys in the backends that we
support, even if many of us strongly dislike some of those methods of
administration (specifically, $EDITOR for files/nis), and SMC is roundly
disliked.

Now that we have these wide-open mailing lists perhaps we can openly ask
our customers just how much they care for OpenSolaris to have complete,
_generic_ name service administration tools when/before we add any name
service features.

[*]  $EDITOR for files/nis, nistbladm(1M) for NIS+ and ldapadd/modify/
     delete(1) for LDAP.
