Yes, that's how I've done it. vni0 is a convenient way to get multilevel desktop to work. The DISPLAY can just be hostname:0. Xserver in global zone knows hwo to handle labels associated with each zone. No routes need to be configured. When I need to communicate with other systems, I use the name associated with my real IP address.
