Hi, Has anyone considered implementing a SSL Certificate Management tool in OpenSolaris, so that the production of Self Signed and Third Party Signed Certificates can be managed via a simple user interface.
Run a root, the SSL Certificate Manager would allow the full range of Certificates to be created, allowing the creation of a Master Certificate which can be used to self sign further certificates or other certificates which are externally signed. The tool would allow easy import and export of certificates. All the certificates would be stored in an encrypted file, can be defined for specific tasks HTTPS, SSL or SSH use. Selecting from a predetermined list would result in the certificate being placed in the correct location for the application selected. Run as a user, the SSL Certificate Manager would allow the user to create a certificate selecting for which purpose from a menu list which is automatically signed by the Master certificate defined by Root for that purpose. A programmatic interface would also need to be provided to allow applications to be installed and then called the Certificate Manager to create their certificates.
