Florin I'm relatively new to MNF. My only concern is the process for updating (I'm using a downloaded version). When I did't provide an ftp login/passwd the web update interface claimed there were no updates, which was not the case. Even after applying all the patches using urpmi, the web update interface still seems broken. The doc / code discusses 3 types of mirror (https://10.0.0.200:8443/en/secure/index.php?where=17030&tag=3&loadfile=modules/mu4naat/index.php: The help for that page says:
I'm a home user, and paying for support is out of the question. I eventually found the reference about how to use urpmi to update MNF8.2, and I now have a fully patched box. I maintain that Mandrake has gained nothing my making that process difficult for me (and others I suspect). Why not enable web updates for all / or at least provide helpful error messages / documentation on the update process? It isn't in anyones' interest to have unpatched MNF boxes out there. Regards Nigel
The next two weeks will represent an intense MNF update process. New features will be added. Also, if you have found some critical problems, let me know ... I'll eat sleep on MNF for the next couple of weeks :o) I will also need some testers for the new MNF features: - Pptp VPN - bridging - traffic shaping - openvpn - DSL connections - bonding anyone ? -- Florin Grad http://www.mandrakesoft.com http://people.mandrakesoft.com/~florin/ |
