Hi,

Earlier problems about booting the distro CDROM and getting stuck that I mentioned had to do
with an corrupt iso image of the mnf2beta2 CDROM, so please ignore.

Once I had a md5sum checked image, burned the right way with Nero these problems were gone...

I am using an Openbrick NG machine with external USB disks from Lacie for experimentation of MNF2.
I boot with an usbstick, read the distro from an USB disk and install on another USB disk.

The hardware and/or Mandrake had a very bad time guessing the geometry of the external USB disk,
so I was not able to boot after the installation process.

During the installation process, I was not able to configure the X server. The installer prompts with:
Choose an X server, than detects a server but than gives the error message: Cant install XFree package.

The log file says:

* selecting packages XFree86-Server
* unkown 'XFree86-Server'

Would like to have X11 installed, because I don't want to configure the firewall on the commandline!

Tomorrow I'll investigate further than this, using hardware with normal IDE harddisks

regards -- hans bayle
