Greetings: I am an information security design specialist currently working in Vancouver, Canada. I am looking for a position where I can use my technical and management skills to lead a small team of security professionals. I am a Canadian citizen and willing to relocate to west coast USA or to Western Europe. For the past two years, I was the Manager of Network and Information Security for national operations at Canada's largest competitive local exchange carrier, Group Telecom (www.gt.ca). In that role, I advised the company executive in many aspects of information security, including development of security policy and threat/risk analysis. I provided the technical services of compliance auditing, computer forensic investigations, incident response, and designs for countermeasures, as well as advising product development teams on security measures in new products. Prior to this, I held information systems analyst and management positions for 8 years at Capilano College, where I designed, built, secured, operated, and tested the campus network and computing environment. During the last two years there, I was responsible for the day-to-day management of the computing operations staff. My specialty is designing and auditing security provisions and defenses in large-scale data networks and computing environments. I have over six years of hands-on experience building and maintaining custom and commercial security devices, such as firewalls and intrusion detectors, eight years experience tracking hacker activities over public and private networks, and eleven years experience designing and implementing IP networks. I am a skilled Unix systems administrator, and have expertise securing a variety of operating systems and security devices, including Windows, Novell, Cisco, and Linux. I have formal training on Cisco routers and switches, and have significant network engineering skills, including detailed knowledge of large-scale IP networks, specific Internet protocols, and hostile intruder techniques and countermeasures.
