supporting/managing firewalls (interlock and 
checkpoint  running on Solaris & Nokia IPSO) for 
ANS/UUnet & 
Qwest.  Much of that experience was as a working 
manager.  I've done 1000's of unix installs/hardening, 
and done the necessary planning and network 
troubleshooting of countless firewall installs for 
hundreds of different companies unique scenerios; 
including firewalls used for internet connection, within 
LAN, in hosting environment, in high availability setup, 
and in VPN setup.

Operations Manager, August 1999 - June 2001

Built and managed a team of 8 provisioning, install, 
and support engineers.  Developed, from the ground 
up, the procedures for deployment and support of a 
managed firewall service using Checkpoint software 
running on Nokia hardware, a managed IDS service, 
and a network scanning service.  Worked with sales, 
product management, engineering, NOC, and other 
operations teams to design scalable processes and 
ensure seamless customer experience for 
customers getting multiple products from Qwest.  
Manage sales and customers expectations.  Helped 
develop business model and continually re-evaluated 
headcount needs to achieve goals.  Point of 
escalation for customers and sales on all 
implementation and support issues.  Top of Qwest 
escalation chain for all technical firewall issues.

Managed a team of 5 security installation engineers

requests.  These requests included complex mail, 
web, and routing scenarios; developing custom 
scripts to solve unique problems; and integrating third 
party products.  Wrote chapters in the InterLock 
firewall administrator’s guide.  Taught 3 day 
firewall 
administrators course. Trained junior support 
engineers.  Went on pre-sales calls and to trade 
shows to help close technical sales and conduct
