Network Security Analyst

Verizon FNS requires Network Security Analysts to provide technical and programmatic 
support to the NASA Glenn Research Center (GRC) in Cleveland, Ohio. This position 
will support the IT Security Program Office in performance of the PACE Contract. The 
successful candidate will use a balance of technical understanding of IT systems 
security vulnerabilities and interpersonal (people) skills to work closely with 
customers 
of the IT Security Program Office to ensure identified vulnerabilities are rapidly 
closed, 
improving the overall security posture of the GRC network. These high-visibility roles 

are responsible for building relationships with security representatives of various 
organizations, helping them achieve their IT security objectives by coaching, 
facilitating, 
and advocating IT security best practices.

Specific tasks include:
- Perform vulnerability analysis and follow-up identified security vulnerabilities to 
closure 
with the system owners.
- Work with Organizational Computer Security Representatives (OCSRs) to improve the 
overall security knowledge and posture of NASA GRC.
- Meet regularly with assigned OSCRs to create a 'relationship network' where security 

issues can be communicated between the Organizations and the IT Security Program 
Office.
- Facilitate IT security risk assessments for GRC Organizations, as requested.
- Provide systems evaluation, configuration testing, and reporting to support the 
Network Access Control Board processes.
- Meet regularly with the IT Security manager and IT Security Program Manager to keep 
abreast of the latest issues that require attention and inform the program office on 
progress of the current work.
- Create, draft, and make changes to security related documents (policies,plans, 
assessments, etc.) as required.

Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong working knowledge of Windows 2000 networking, including domain 
administration, security, and implementation and in depth knowledge of Unix network 
including domain administration, security and implementation.
- Minimum of two years experience working in IT development or administration 
environment.
- Demonstrated technical understanding of IT security issues.
- Excellent written and verbal skills.
- Awareness of computer security risks and responsibilities for various operating 
systems.
- Successful track record in customer service skills.
- Successful track record in leadership to include, organizing and tasking follow-up.

The ideal candidate will also possess/demonstrate the following qualities:
-  BS in Computer Science/Engineering or related technical field (or equivalent work 
experience).
- Two years experience with computer security risk assessment and vulnerability 
testing.
- Process orientation.
- Self-motivated, self-starter.
- Enthusiastic, make it happen approach.
- Works well in small groups - able to lead small to medium projects.
- Systems experience with Microsoft IIS, Exchange, SQL Server (Desirable).
- Project management skills (Desirable).
- Experience in US Government or DoD contracting.(Desirable)
- Capable of performing conflict resolution.
- Ability to solve problems in policy voids.
- Working knowledge of Unix/Linux/Mac OS-X (Desirable).
- Ability to perform systems auditing.
- Certifications desirable (CISSP, CISA, GIAC).
