iDEFENSE Labs is looking for qualified candidates for a Junior 
Security Engineer position. The successful candidate will be 
responsible for providing technical expertise working independently 
or with other security engineers as part of the team.  The position 
involves a great deal of technical vulnerability verification, some 
pure security research, in addition to writing occasional 
whitepapers on emerging topics in information security.  Daily 
duties will also include driving the cyberintelligence gathering 
process of iALERT analysts through technical innovation and 
specific assigned projects.  This position requires the staff 
member to be located in the metro Washington DC area (DC, Northern 
Virgina, Southern Maryland). 


Skills and Abilities

Candidates must have strong technical skills in a number of the 
following competencies: 

Various flavors of Unix/Linux system administration (Solaris, AIX, 
RedHat, Debian, *BSD, Mandrake, HP-UX, etc.), Windows 3.1 - XP, 
MacOS, Cisco IOS, general router administration, Netware, TCP, UDP, 
IP, IPX, HTTP, SMTP, FTP, DNS, SQL, Unix shell scripting, Perl, 
Java, JavaScript, VBScript, ASP, PHP, C/C++, Assembly languages and 
coding, SSL, PKI, IPSec, wireless technologies, vulnerability 
scanning tools (nmap, nessus, whisker, ISS, Cybercop, Retina) 
firewalls, intrusion detection techniques and products, etc.

Candidates must also possess strong writing skills and be able to 
communcate their ideas effectively.  Frequent contributors to 
Bugtraq and VulnWatch are encouraged to apply.


Professional Experience

* CISA, CISSP, CCIE, and/or other product certifications area a 
plus
* Familiarity with information security principles and system 
vulnerabilities.
* BS/BA or equivalent work experience.
* 1 year of cumulative technical experience in security services or 
performing security related tasks
