Company Description

An Australian, award-wining software developer of InfoSec applications 
dealing, primarily, with the Government sectors. 

Why role exists?

Due to a new product launch, and an anticipated high demand for their 
products, they are currently looking to add an experienced Business 
Development Manager to their Canberra team. 

An opportunity therefore exists to operate your own business and establish 
a Canberra based office. 

The Role 

The main focus of this role will be to identify business opportunities 
within the Government sector. 

You will identify and develop new business relationships within Federal 
and State Government departments. Leveraging existing relationships, you 
will provide departments with unique tools. 

Lead and be responsible for identifying and winning new business 
opportunities

Where appropriate, qualify, bid market, support bids and lead contract 
negotiations through to contract signature

Lead the implementation and provide input into the Divisions Marketing Plan

Collaborate with the technical team to ensure delivery of customer 
solutions

Ability to provide high-level customer management

Account revenue and achieving sales targets 

Positioning the company’s technology platform 

Managing client, internal and partner relationships 

Assisting with the development of appropriate solutions, and preparing 
proposals.

Abilities, skills, qualifications and experience 

Prior experience in establishing an office in Canberra from ‘scratch’ and 
specialising in selling software security systems into Defence and other 
Government areas. 

An extensive up to date network of senior decision makers from key Defence 
and other like minded Federal Government departments is critical.

Your prior experience and exposure within a professional vendor 
environment coupled with a ‘small business mentality’ will make you an 
ideal candidate.

Both strong sales ability and account management skills will be required 
for this role. 

Your knowledge, coupled with your strong written and communication skills, 
at Senior Level, will see you highly regarded for this role. 

You will be tertiary educated; a highly motivated sales professional with 
a professional; credible and consultative approach and a solid track 
record within Government Sales.

You should have a proven track record in selling product, services and 
complete/complex solutions for at least the least 5 years. 

You will need to know how to operate at a strategic level across a range 
of key Defence and other Government areas. You will understand how to put 
in place the right strategy for the right outcome. You will have an 
established track record of success in this client.

You will be an enthusiastic, forward thinking, professional with a proven 
record of sales achievement in selling InfoSec solutions into Federal 
Government departments in the Canberra market.

Experience in managing senior-level client relationships
 
You have excellent relationship building skills based on your ability to 
understand your clients’ needs and delivering solutions to meet those 
needs.

You will be capable of ensuring sales and marketing initiatives are met, 
and the achievement of quarterly sales targets.You will be proactive by 
nature, and have strong communication and presentation skills.
