GENERAL SUMMARY: Maintain and coordinate security software systems. Provide maintenance, problem resolution, and analysis of security exposures and opportunities on multiple platforms, including UNIX, Windows NT/2000/XP, Intranet/Internet, and/or network firewalls and security servers. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: 3 Years NT/Win 2K (Specific knowledge of access controls, permissions). 3 years Unix (Solaris preferred, Linux, BSD). 1 year of general networking experience (e.g. routing, switching, TCP/IP, other networking protocols, firewalls). Network security and access controls. Risk and Vulnerability assessments. Familiarity with network intrusion techniques. Possess strong organizational and time management skills, driving tasks to completion. Able to work constructively under stress and pressure when faced with high workloads and deadlines. Able to identify areas of risk/concern in area of responsibility. Able to identify needs and opportunities and develop action plans to address. Able to assimilate research data from a variety of sources, analyze and recommend appropriate courses of action to take. ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Analysis of IDS from firewalls, routers, and servers to determine threats. Become familiar with company network traffic patterns in order to best analyze anomalies. Implement various software solutions to assist with security monitoring (e.g. central logging software, intrusion detection). Assist in the daily monitoring of network traffic from various devices. Develop methods to best monitor network and analyze network traffic, utilizing tools provided as well as suggesting other tools to utilize. Maintain software used to assist in monitoring (patches, software updates). Conducts security analysis of log data to develop security related events. Compiles reports on vulnerabilities, log analysis, and compliance for the Information Security Officer. Develop procedures for providing regular reporting on network monitoring, either utilizing provided company tools or other methods. Produce regular reports based on procedures. Meet regularly with the ISO to review reports in preparation for presentation to Senior IT Management. Help to assess and maintain effectiveness of Company Information Security Policy. Assist the Information Security Officer with compliance to the internal Information Security Policies. Help to maintain and update the Information Security Policies. Provide suggestions to improve and enhance company security policies. Actively participate and assist with the Information Security Action Team. Improve your knowledge of information security by keeping up with the latest trends and vulnerabilities. Improve your breadth of security knowledge by pursuing industry security certifications, and/or related IT certifications. Improve/share your knowledge with Pegasus IT by sharing new skills and training material with applicable IT parties.
