In this role you will be responsible for defining and promoting security standards for 
the Unix 
environment.  Develop and maintain scripts to facilitate the automation and analysis 
of security 
tools and issues. Maintain monitoring tools and access control tools in an optimum 
state. Administer 
operational aspects of servers on which Unix Security tools reside. Analyze real-time 
and archived 
intrusion, vulnerability and audit data. Ensure information is protected from internal 
and external 
unauthorized access, modification, deletion or disclosure. Assist system engineers and 
administrators with compliance to these security standards and policies. Define 
metrics and reports 
that establish security levels for the various host platforms. Establish strong 
relationships and 
communicate regularly to the technical community on Unix security issues. Partner with 
various 
groups outside of immediate department.

Qualified candidates must have PERL script writing expertise. Operational security 
experience 
(System Hardening; Physical Security; Backup and Recovery).  In depth knowledge of 
Unix-based 
security tools (ESM, PowerBroker). In depth knowledge of Unix-based web servers 
(Apache, 
Netscape). In depth knowledge of Unix-based database/directory tools (Oracle, 
IPlanet). 
Knowledge of TCP/IP networking. Intrusion Detection experience. Vulnerability Scanning 
experience. 
Self-managing, motivated, hard working. Excellent written and verbal communication 
skills. 
Continuously look for methods to improve current processes and procedures.  Security 
certifications preferred, such as CISSP, CISA and SANS GNSA.
