Work Experience

June 2002 . Today

Project : iSecure
Description : iSecure is comprehensive security appliance with stateful inspection
Firewall and IPSEC/IKE based VPN. Firewall supports several ALGs, cyber-defense engine
and powerful session lookup engine. VPN is based on latest IPSEC and IKE RFCs and
supports preshared key and RSA/DSA certificate authentication.
My role: Team lead
My contribution:
Stateful inspection Firewall and IPSEC/IKE software was bought from Intoto
Inc, Santa Clara USA. Ported the code successfully onto Linux platform.
Developed auto boot procedure on compact flash.
Minimized linux kernel to fit in 8MB of compact flash.
Developed Dynamic DNS module to provide dynamic IP address with fixed static
domain name and integrated with PPP and DHCP Client components of iSecure. Whenever
PPP or DHCP clients get new IP address from the ISP, the IP address information gets
changed in dynamicdns.org via this module.
Developed SNTP (Simple Network Time Protocol) client and integrated with
iSecure.
Submitted IETF IPSEC draft on Dead Peer Tunnel Detection. This solves the
problem of finding out dead tunnels and establishes the tunnel. Currently coding this
and will be integrating with IKEv1 software.
       Participate in IPSEC/focus-ids/fw-wiz mailing list.
Evaluated snort IDS/Intoto Inline IPS solution to integrate with iSecure.

Project: Packet Capturing with Kernel Module
This kernel module enables to capture all the packets from the kernel. This module
uses a kernel macro dev_add_pack in doing so. An application program to analyse the
traffic flowing in the network uses this mechanism.

Platform: Linux 2.4

Academic Projects
Project name: Digital logic design (electronic lock simulation)
Description
This simulated design provides security. This lock calculates reaction time of the
person and unlocks only when it founds the reaction time be authenticated. The person
has to react to glow of LED located near the keypad by pressing an appropriate key.
The design is implemented in three steps. In the first step the keys pressed on the
keypad are decoded into binary format. The second stage involves control of LED and
display unit. The last step is to check for authentication. This lock is different
from conventional locks, which accepts reaction time and PIN rather than PIN only by
which this can provide more security.
Language: verilog HDL
Platform: synapti CAD simulator
Team size: 5

 Role: project leader

Project name: Automatic room light controller
Description: This is a hardware project, which helps us to control glowing of lights
during nighttime. The hardware senses the entrance of people at the door and switches
on the lights. The counter increments when a person enters a room and displays number
of persons in the room. The hardware also detects persons leaving and decrements the
count. When the count is zero, the lights are switched off. There is a photo sensor,
which makes the hardware to work only during nights.
Type: hardware project
