Hi,

An additional query on the same line.  Does Sedna provide support for
callbacks on trigger?

Thanks and regards,
Prashanth

Subject: [Sedna-discussion] Query on Hierarchical support of Sedna XML DB

Hi All,

I am looking for a Native XML database (free/open source) which should be
having the following functionality.
  * Supports all basic XML operations.
  * Provides C APIs which can be used to connect to my C applications.
  * Provides the triggers to applications if any change occurs to database.
  * Provides transaction based operations. (commit and rollback)
          * Provides a hierarchical data model.

After browsing for the Sedna website, I found that it provides most of the
support features that I am looking for. However, when I went through section
"Hierarchical Collections" under Sedna XML:DB API Emulations in the Sedna
XML:DB API Documentation, I found that the following interesting points.

Sedna does not support hierarchical collections, it supports one
collection deep from the root database and nothing further.

XML:DB API states “An XML database MAY expose collections as
a hierarchical set of parent and child collections.”    What does it mean?

Sedna XML:DB API emulates this “hierarchical collections”
functionality.

Does this mean Sedna will be useful only for one-level deep hierarchy only?

I have a requirement in which a tree of objects (these objects have relations
with each other ; i.e either parent-child or sibling or just association among
themselves) has to be stored and retrieved and the tree is so several levels
deep. How can I address this requirement through Sedna? Please let me know.

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,
Prashanth
