There were lots of changes and bugfixes since 3.5. Our nightly builds are
more stable than old "stable" versions, but the process of release takes
much more time: our nightly builds pass some set of tests that can be
passed during one night.

Release testing is much more reliable and complicated: we have much bigger
set of tests for this purpose. At first we run these tests on a separate
server for a long time (1-2 months) to ensure that Sedna doesn't hang or
fail for some undiscovered reason -- we have no enough resources and it's
much longer process to test it in this way.

You can look at our repository to see the full set of changes:
http://sedna.org/gitweb/sedna.git/shortlog (since 2012-01-02 commit).

I think Ivan could tell much more as a maintainer.
