Nonetheless, there is a (somewhat) defined difference between web
programs and offline programs. But, to help finnish this off and avoid
bickering....

At AltaVista's online translation site (babelfish.altavista.com) there
is a link to where you can download the original software that it's
based on, which is called Systran Personal Edition. Following links you
get to:

http://www.systransoft.com/personal.html

Now it's going to cost you, depending on what you want. Uni-directional
(from English to language only) is $29.00, bi-directional (english to /
from language) us $49, and on a CD (rather than download) is $69. Also
not that you only get one language pair, not all 10 that the online
Babelfish has available. So, what you want is up to you. I would just
say to keep a link to Babelfish handy, but if you want their software,
that's what it costs.

Now, if anyone out there knows a cheaper alternative that works just as
well, I'd be glad to hear about it, because I wouldn't mind having an
offline translator too. But Systran / AltaVista Babelfish is the best
I've found so far.
