that computer magazine online sites are a good source for product
reviews and comparisons.

For example, check into the ZDNet's Computer Shopper Magazine:

They do some good reviews and comparisons.
Take a good visit all through the "Big Three" sites, as I call them:

Internet.com < http://www.internet.com/ >
Those three sites alone will lead you to a huge amount of
information
on software and hardware for our computers.
