A friend of mine in Brisbane, Australia has a 55-gallon drum half full of
electronics that have gold plating on the contacts. He says that he used to
be able to sell these parts for scrap there, but that the only company that
recycled gold there has now gone out of business.
When I was a child one could buy "gold plating solution" and a "brush"
(which plugged in to a battery) to plate with, so electrolysis must be
possible. One can still buy those today.
Can anyone put me on to a method for home recovery of gold from electronic
contacts?
Thanks,
Karlo
